How to Roll the Best Cannabis Joint for Your Next Outdoors May Adventure
There is something almost therapeutic about preparing a cannabis joint before taking it outside into the sun on a beautiful May day. If done correctly, the joint will burn consistently, stay intact in the wind, and make the overall experience so much more enjoyable. Below are some simple steps to follow to help ensure you can always have a perfect joint to take with you.
Materials Needed
Having all of your material ready prior to starting the process will greatly simplify things:
- Quality rolling papers (slim or regular – whichever suits your preferences)
- Filter tip or roach card
- Grinder for creating a uniform grind
- Your preferred flower or shake
- Flat area to roll or rolling tray
Steps to Follow
- Consistent Grind
The grind of the herb is what creates the draw when burning the herb. If the grind is too fine, the draw will be poor; if it is too coarse, the heat produced by the flame may create hot spots resulting in an uneven burn. Generally speaking, two to three seconds of grinding is enough to produce an optimal consistency. - Create Roach First
Create your filter tip/roach card prior to creating your joint. Creating your roach will provide stability and give you something to use as reference point while working on your joint. - Even Load
Load the flower onto the rolling paper and distribute evenly. Be sure to load a little extra toward the center. Do not overpack. Airflow is crucial for smooth burning. - The Roll
Begin to roll your joint by using the filter tip/roach card as the base. Once you begin to roll, work along the joint slowly but steadily. The most important part of this step is making sure you “tuck” the paper under at the roach end. Once you complete this step, completing the joint should become natural. - Seal & Pack
Lick the gum to seal the edges of the joint from the roach end to the tip. Gently twist the remaining portion of the paper at the top and bottom of the joint until sealed. Gently tap the open end of the joint several times to settle the contents before twisting shut.
Tips For Burning Outside
